PROJECT OVERVIEW
Virginia Distillery Rickhouse
Virginia Steel Buildings
The spirits industry is booming and we understand that flexibility is the key to success in the craft market. Another key element in the distillery design process is collaboration. It is important for all service providers, engineers, architects & contractors to be on the same page to effectively carry out the customer’s vision. At Allied, we have designed everything from small distillery tasting rooms to large production facilities collaborating with architects & engineers throughout the globe, delivering with distilling projects with great success.
One of our recent clients wanted to build a barrel storage facility, or rickhouse. Virginia Distillery Company is an American Single Malt Whisky distillery located amongst the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia. Allied’s Virginia Distillery assignment consisted of two large barrel storage warehouses where the casked whisky is allowed to age. The barrel racking and aging process is a special technique, specific to each distiller.
Whether your Rickhouse consists of palatalized barrels, dunnage stacked barrels, or wine racked barrels, Allied can help you in the early Rickhouse design process to determine the clear span and clear height requirements for your barrel storage warehouse.
