One of the most crucial things to keep in mind with the design and construction of any steel building is having the proper roof. Each Roofing Option offers its own benefits and functions, which is why Allied Steel Buildings provides a wide variety of roof panels to choose from. Familiarize yourself with the three major types.
Steel Roof Panels
PBR Metal Roof Panel
A PBR roof panel, available in 24 and 26-gauge steel, is a 36″ wide panel with 1 1/8″ high ribs on 12″ centers. With a yield of 80,000 pounds per square inch, it can be walked upon, resistant to hail damage, and has enhanced load carrying capacity. The purlin bearing leg design makes panel alignment and fastener engagement consistent. Weather-proofing is achieved by means of a tape sealant at the panel laps which prevents water migration and air infiltration. PBR roof panel fasteners are coated with an organic material that is seven times more resistant to rust than the typical cadmium-zinc coated fasteners. The system also has both 30 and 90 classification from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for wind uplift resistance. While shell white is standard, other colors are available as a special order
Standing Seam Metal Roof Panel
A Standing Seam roof panel system is superior to the standard “exposed fastener” option due to needing virtually no maintenance throughout its lifetime. Since assembly doesn’t require the use of thru-fasteners, the panel’s integrity is enhanced. Additionally, the Standing Seam roof panel has an integrated weather-proofing strip that provides further protection from water and air intrusion. We offer many architectural profiles in this roof panel system in order to accommodate various architectural and aesthetic preferences. Installation of a Standing Seam roof panel is greatly reduced due to its simple yet innovative design. The roof panels are heavy 22 or 24-gauge steel materials with long-life coating for ultra-durable performance. Class 90 UL rating for wind uplift resistance further reduces. While shell white is the default choice, you can select other options, some of which can actually heighten energy efficiency. In fact, you can even benefit from tax incentives due to the panel’s environmental friendliness. Note that the Standing Seam system can be utilized on new projects, as well as on retrofit projects for pre-existing structures.
Architectural Standing Seam Roof Panels
Finally, there are VSR (Architectural Standing Seam Roof Panels) roof panels, a type of Standing Seam roof panel that is offered in different profiles to add aesthetic value to any roof project. VSR roof panels are available with a 2″ vertical rib in 16 width. VSR roof panels come in both fixed and floating clips. This system’s heavy 24-gauge steel material with long-life coating offer the same ultra-durable protection as the Standing Seam roof panel, as well as the same high rating from Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
