PREFAB WAREHOUSE BUILDINGS
Building a Prefabricated Steel Warehouse
Are you in need of a flex warehouse, distillery, distribution, manufacturing or storage Warehouse? Or maybe just expanding your business for your growing storage requirements? We provide services & features that make planning and constructing your warehouse buildings a painless process. Our flex building systems are a versatile solution to combining offices, warehouses, and manufacturing under one roof. Let’s walk through some important topics to consider.
How much do steel warehouses cost?
This response depends on many factors. When addressing the cost of a steel building, we must have a clear understanding of the location, size, and use of the structure. For example, a simple warehouse in Colorado will cost less than it’s twin warehouse in California. The environmental impacts alone will require that the California steel building be stronger & heavier, in order to withstand the strong seismic forces.
The use of the facility will have an equal impact on the design of the structure. Typically, when you plan out warehouse construction, these are the factors suggested that you consider:
- Volume of Goods that need to be stored based on demand
- Whether or not your inventory includes perishable items and you require environmental controls, or cold-storage
- Future Scalability
- Access Points to major markets or retail outlets
- Accessibility for all staff members based on the number of staff
When determining your overall commercial warehouse construction costs it’s important to understand the size of the building your business requires, whether or not it’s required to be expandable in the future, applicable loads associated with items sitting on the roof deck, hanging from the structure, attaching to the structure, or the consideration of multiple floors, for a multistory structure.
In multistory warehouses, for example, a mezzanine or floor with heavy equipment, will require a careful assessment of the equipment point loads, and will cost more than a standard storage or office mezzanine, that doesn’t need to account for the added movement or loads.
Determining clearance requirements
What are you using your warehouse for? Is it a showroom with racked storage? Do you have racks, lifts or machinery that you plan to store? What is the interior building height, clear of obstruction, that’s required for these items? When referring to steel building heights, we refer to the eave height, the height where the sidewall meets the roof. The height of the ridge will be determined by the roof slope, and the interior clearance will be determined by the rafter depth. The rafter depth will be determined by the design loads that must be considered, whether that be building enclosure (open buildings experience more uplift) snow loads, collateral loads, wind, etc.
Can steel warehouses be designed to be aesthetically pleasing?
Steel warehouses can certainly be constructed with some curb appeal. Building materials such as glass, brick, and stone can be incorporated into the design as long as the attachment method and load considerations are considered in the engineering stages of the structure.
Roof & wall panel options
An easy way to add cost effective pizazz to any building is by selecting the Roof panels & Wall panels that meet your style. There are many color options and finishes to choose from. Some panel options even come with built in insulation, and a stone textured finish (Insulated metal panels).
